Location and distances
The history of Vinitsa is deeply rooted in the past. The first written records of the settlement date back to the 14th–15th centuries, during the Ottoman rule, when it was known as „Uch-Dere“ – a Turkish name meaning „three valleys“ (a reference to the characteristic terrain of the area). The inhabitants are mainly engaged in viticulture, olive growing and agriculture. The region’s renowned wine-making traditions gave rise to its present-day Bulgarian name – „Vinitsa“. During the 19th century, the village retained its mixed ethnic character – Turks, Greeks, Bulgarians and Armenians lived here.
About the Vinitsa neighbourhood – character and atmosphere
Following the Liberation of 1878, many Muslim families left the area, and Vinitsa developed into a predominantly Bulgarian village with a thriving wine-growing and agricultural industry. During the socialist period (1944–1989), the local vineyard and winery operated here. In 1971, the village was incorporated into Varna as a neighbourhood – a decision dictated by its proximity to the city (8 km) and the growing volume of housing construction. During the 1980s and 1990s, Vinitsa experienced a new boom – first with holiday homes and villas, then with permanent housing development.
Today Vinica It is one of Varna’s most rapidly developing neighbourhoods. The former vineyards are gradually being transformed into modern residential complexes and gated communities. The neighbourhood combines affordable prices, clean air, nature (the forest around Vinitsa is one of the greenest places in the municipality), and a convenient location – just a 15-minute drive to the city centre and the same distance to the resorts of Sts Constantine and Helena and Golden Sands. Vinitsa is the perfect choice for families with children who are looking for nature and tranquillity just a stone’s throw from the city.
